Our Network Provider I - The Planet Internet Services - Dallas, TX

The Network

The Planet have joined 7 different Tier one backbone providers together to form the best network infrastructure in the industry. The Planet backbone border routers are Juniper M20's and the fully redundant switching layer comprises a certified six pack design of Cisco™ 6500 series switches. All customer access switches in the datacenter, and there are hundreds of them, are Cisco™ 2950 series switches designed for maximum performance and uptime availability.

Through The Planet, we have the following carrier backbone connectivity running the BGP4 protocol:

  • 1 Gbps Direct Fiber - MCI/UUNET
  • 1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Time Warner
  • 1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Level 3
  • 1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Verio
  • 1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Global Crossing
  • 2 Gbps Direct Fiber - Allegiance Telecom
  • 2 Gbps Direct Fiber - AboveNet
  • 1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Sprint
  • 1 Gbps Direct Fiber - AT&T
  • 1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Broadwing

The Datacenter

The Planet Data Center facility infrastructure starts with five diverse OC48 SONET fiber rings and 1 OC192 SONET fiber ring, providing the basic connectivity to six different Internet access carriers. The Planet 35,000 square foot datacenter is state of the art. The bare essentials are: A preaction dry-pipe sprinkler system with 580 smoke detectors and a VESDA contaminate system to create a full proof fire prevention system. 23 - 26 ton Data Aire down flow air conditioners designed to run in complete redundancy formaximum cooling. 6 -500KVA Powerware UPS battery backup systems with 90 batteries each (540 total) for up to 80 minutes of UPS battery backup power. 2 - Cummins backup generators. Big Moe, that's his name, is a 1.5Megawatt 16 cylinder diesel with a 2200 gallon diesel fuel tank. Little Joe, the not-so-small guy, is a 1.0Megawatt 12 cylinder diesel with a 2000 gallon diesel fuel tank. The Planet Data Center can operate for 15 days on generator power without a refuel. Couple these generators with our three input electrical feeds to two different city grids in downtown Dallas and our uptime guarantee on power is 100%.

Our routers contain the latest IOS (operating system), and BGP4 routing. This allows name space broadcasting to multiple backbone providers, ensuring better redundancy. Thus, if one connection goes down, another will take it's place immediately.

Our Network Provider III - Net Access Corporation (NAC) - Parsippany, NJ

Net Access Corporation (NAC) has been providing Internet service since 1995. It is one of the largest and most fault tolerant networks in the region of US, composed of a full mesh of OC3 (155 Megabit) and OC12 (622 Megabit) links. It is connected to Internet backbones at redundant data centers in Northern NJ and NYC, linking directly to most of the major networks, including Sprint, UUNET, Cable & Wireless, PSI, AOL, Level 3, Genuity, and many others. Making sure your data can be reached, viewed, updated, and accessible with incredible connectivity and network strength.

Our Network Provider IV - Global Net Access (GNAX) - Atlanta, GA

GNAX believe in a few large pipes of quality providers to handle spikes in traffic and the occasional DoS attack as well as unknown traffic patterns in the case of a primary link failure. This is why GNAX network minimum Internet backbone connection is 1 gig pipes. GNAX currently have 5 backbone providers and are publicly peered with 12 providers including earthlink. GNAX current network consists of Gigabit links to Abovenet, XO, PCC-BTN, Telia, Level 3 and the Atlanta Internet Exchange public peering point. You will not get bottlenecks due to small pipes.

GNAX datacenter is located in one of the 2 main Telco Hotel vaults in Atlanta - with access to all the major fiber and IP backbones and the highest quality of power and security in the city.

Our Network Provider VII - Intercage - San Francisco, CA

The Datacenter is located in San Francisco, California. It is inside the building at 200 Paul Avenue.

The network has a large capacity capable of serving 10 gigabits per second. It is BGP4 multihomed, with providers such as nLayer, WVFIber, Global Crossing, ServerCentral, and Pacific Internet Exchange. This network is monitored 24x7, and if any provider should have an outage, the other providers will immediately and automatically pickup the extra traffic. Each provider has the capacity to handle the entire network in the event of an outage. For routing hardware, we uses multiple Black Diamond 6808 core routers with Gig-E fiber optic connections to all providers/peers. We use nothing but high quality Extreme switches both at the edge and at the customer distribution level. The entire network is redundant and running gigabit connections in between all ports. This will truly provide great redundancy and ensure your server to remain online in the event of almost any possible problem that could occur.
